If it Ain't Broke, Break it: Matt Hardy's Brilliant Rebirth

Matt Hardy was supposed to fade away.

After battling his own demons and struggling through a career in TNA that just wasn't going anywhere, many fans were likely waiting for the day when he would quietly disappear from the headlines, and from the business. But they couldn't predict what would happen next.

Matt Hardy did not die.

Instead of falling to pieces and withering away, Hardy got himself right and completely overhauled his character. Now he's considered by many of those same fans that counted him out, to be the hottest talent in the industry today. Matt found the fountain of youth, and rediscovered his love for pro wrestling.

If he's not the highest paid performer in TNA, he sure should be.

Broken Matt Hardy is the biggest reason to watch the program, even with the abundance of potential the company has. The talents being featured on iMPACT Wrestling are young, they're hungry, and they have the potential to do great things in the business.

They bring everything they have each week, and even though the company's future has been in turmoil, the stars involved have not let that affect them.

From Moose to Ethan Carter III to Eddie Edwards, guys have stepped up in TNA, even when they didn't know if there would be a place for them the next week. But at the center of it all is Hardy.

Matt is making it all work. His willingness to put himself out there and reinvent his character, has been great for TNA. He had nothing to lose, and has gained everything because of his desire to do something different.

In an industry filled with similar gimmicks and cookie cutter performers, Matt dared to try something new and stand out from the rest. The Attitude Era Hardy Boy is gone. The Ruthless Aggression Matt Hardy Version 1 is nowhere to be found.

This is a new man for a new time, and he's struck gold with this idea.

Fans know what heels are. They've seen them thousands of times, in every shape and size. The bad guys are basically just misunderstood; men that are convinced they're in the right, but have lost themselves in the pursuit of fame and glory.

Babyfaces do the right thing. Cutting corners and taking cheapshots are typically not on their agenda. Faces work hard to get what they want, and use the fans' support as a means to find an inner strength to overcome their opponents.

This is the way things have always been in pro wrestling.

But Matt has shattered the traditional heel and face roles. Instead of asking "why do this," he asked "why not do this?" He stepped outside of his comfort zone, and created a character that is unlike anything fans have ever seen before.

In Broken Matt's madness, fans have seen his brilliance.

Hardy did what very few have ever managed to do; he changed his situation, he rediscovered his love for the business, and he successfully rebuilt himself from the ground up. He is one of a kind, and his current run is without a doubt the best of his career.

There is life after WWE, and Matt Hardy has proven that. There will surely be life again in WWE, and that's possible because of his efforts. This gimmick should be on the biggest stage possible, and Matt should be allowed to continue doing it as only he can.

Broken Matt Hardy will not fade away. In fact, he's just getting started.
