The Beast Reigns in WWE

Brock Lesnar has finally made a decision and signed once again with WWE, ending months of speculation as to his immediate future. That's right folks, The Beast is offically back and apparently UFC didn't stand a chance.

Take that, puffy glove Octagon lovers.

It's nothing personal, I don't dislike the sport. Dana White is a very smart guy who has made a lot of money and UFC is more relevant today than professional boxing ever will be again. But I'm an old school pro wrestling guy and that means I'm more interested in pyro, loud music and big shiny belts.

Wait, are we talking about pro wrestling or Ultimate Fighting?

Either way, the waiting is over. Brock has given out his red rose and it went to Vince McMahon. WWE is Lesnar's home once again and that means WrestleMania 31 is no longer his curtain call. And all of this together means that suddenly, nothing is for sure when it comes to Roman Reigns.

Reigns was getting the nod because Brock was on the way out. Isn't that the popular opinion among everyone with a pulse? Roman was the guy with the look, the intensity, his upside was far more impressive than any negative points he may have had. But Lesnar's impending departure was putting Reigns on the fast track to super stardom in WWE.

The keyword here is "was." What about now?

What about now that Brock has resigned with the company? What about now that Mania is not the high noon showdown that we all thought it would be? What happens now that WWE's top guy not named John Cena is sticking around after the biggest event of the year?

The fact is this is good news. Roman is doing what he can with what he has but he cannot be rushed. Every time a guy has been hurried along, it's never worked out and the same will be said of Reigns if he's not given the time needed.

So unless WWE wants Ryback part two, this may be the perfect time to slow Roman down a bit and rethink WrestleMania. The match itself is booked of course, there's no turning back now. But no one said that Roman going over was a slam dunk. With Brock now back in the mix past Mania, plans may need to change.

The only downside to this whole situation is Roman will lose some ground if he doesn't win at WrestleMania. And that's not entirely fair, considering he's at a disadvantage through no fault of his own. The backlash against him has more to do with WWE's ridiculous booking of Daniel Bryan at The Royal Rumble than it has to do with Roman himself.

But a loss does not have to mean the end. Roman can stay on that main event level, working for credibility and respect among the WWE faithful. His feud with Lesnar can perhaps go three matches instead of one and Roman will finally be able to fully realize his potential as The Beast gives him the rub of a lifetime.

And if he turns heel from all of this with Lesnar, then he will have even more of an opportunity to reset and rebuild. Brock's continued presence ensures that WWE has more options and it's heir apparent to Cena has more time.

Take that, silly Roman haters.
