Nakamura: The King of Strong Style Gets his Crown

Nakamura is a star. Anyone that's ever followed New Japan for any length of time knows that. Even when he wasn't booked, his shadow loomed large over the program, and that company would surely love to have him back at some point.

But The King of Strong Style is a WWE Superstar now, and he's also the new NXT champion.

Nakamura's NXT home is just an intro to the main roster, and that was likely the only purpose it was ever supposed to serve. But as the level of talent rises, so too does the overall entertainment value of the program. Now it's much more than just developmental; it's WWE's third brand.

But that's old news. Today's NXT champion is tomorrow's WWE headliner.

This never would have worked before, of course. Had Nakamura come straight onto Monday Night Raw, fans likely would not have known what to make of him. WWE insists on conditioning crowds to love or hate talents based on an abundance of promos and vignettes, none of which have ever done justice to Nakamura.

He is a force of nature, the most charisma WWE has seen in one package since Dusty Rhodes. He is a natural, and he just makes it all look so easy. When he's on TV, fans have to watch him, and that is testament to just how good he is.

WWE can print money with Nakamura, but only if the process is kept simple. The more work that's put into his booking, the more likely it is that it will fail. Nakamura doesn't need a lot of work; his character is ready to go just as he is. Point him in the direction of his opponent, and tell him to have fun.

That's all he needs. Fans can fill in the blanks from there. Pro wrestling is not hard, companies make it hard. It's all about telling the story of good versus evil in a wrestling ring. Nakamura is a showman, and no one can tell a story quite like he can. He gets it, and he understands how the game is played.

There can be no over thinking this. WWE must trust that Nakamura knows what he's doing, and can handle himself in any situation. He is capable of doing so much on the main roster, and that includes becoming WWE or Universal champion. He is ready any time his number is called, and fans are ready for him as well.

There's no better time than now. WWE has made a commitment to moving forward, and Nakamura is a big part of that. He is a world traveled talent that's ready to take WWE by storm and whether it's a month from now or six months from now, Nakamura will have a tremendous impact on the company.

No one can do what he does, and no one can handle it like he can. Fans are ready for Nakamura, and hopefully WWE creative will be as well. Just open the door, and get out of his way.
