No Sleep Till NXT Brooklyn

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn is coming up on Saturday, August 20 and once again it's a stacked card. This is the first since Finn Balor's departure for WWE's main roster, so the brand will truly need to deliver in order to impress fans this time around.

But of course, that's what NXT usually does.

This is the best part of WWE, as the NXT brand continues to set the tone for the much hyped New Era of the company. The fact is that without NXT, there is no New Era. That locker room is the reason why fans have so much faith in the current direction of WWE.

One look at the top stars of August 20, and it's easy to understand why.

Bobby Roode is finally making his NXT debut, and it could not come at a better time. NXT needs a strong Alpha heel and Roode is that heel. His experience gives him swagger, as it's obvious he's fully prepared for the spotlight he will have.

NXT needs him, and he is one of the best signings the company could have made.

Ember Moon is also making an anticipated debut, as NXT continues to bolster its women's division. This is good news for the brand, and for Bayley's fans, who want nothing more than to see her called up to Raw. The stronger the women's division is, the more chance there is that Bayley will come up sooner rather than later.

Asuka is the key to that move being made, of course. She's been flirting with a heel turn since the match with Bayley was booked, and now it could become real. Whether or not it happens, it's obvious Asuka is the best choice to carry the belt besides Bayley, but she needs more quality wins to build herself as the woman to beat in NXT.

The potential show stealer belongs to Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, as the two red hot stars face The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have truly tapped into that old school vibe without using it as a cheap gimmick, and they've endeared themselves to fans as a result.

Gargano and Ciampa of course worked what has to be considered a match of the year candidate at WWE's Cruiserweight Classic. That match alone proves perhaps more than any, that WWE's bench is strong and that the art of pro wrestling is very much alive in that company.

But the real story is Shinsuke Nakamura versus Samoa Joe. Nakamura is the biggest star in NXT, and one of the biggest stars in the industry today. He became a legend in New Japan, and the same could very well happen in Vince McMahon's company. With the right booking in the right environment, Nakamura could become one of the top moneymakers in WWE.

Samoa Joe is a legend in his own right, and now he can only add to that legend. He's in great shape, he's in a great spot, and he has time to get where many fans believe he should be. Joe's eventual showdown with Brock Lesnar is imminent. It's going to happen at some point, and when it does, he will be solidified as a major player in WWE.

The future is on display every time an NXT event takes place. The same will be true of Takeover, as fans once again have the chance to witness the talents of tomorrow take the stage today. NXT is working because the vision is right, the talents are hungry and most importantly, because the fans are having fun. As long as that is the case, NXT will always deliver; it's what they do best.
